DMFL - Week # 17 Playoffs 
This is the culmination of play in the Durham Men's Fastball League over 
48 games and 16 weeks.
Game #1 - Wednesday 8:30 -Sudden Death Play In Game  - Ravens(5) vs Guns(4)
The Ravens launched a 16 hit attack to score 9 runs but their pitching staff 
of Brian Mather and Phil Yahn gave up 7 walks as 5 of those scored. 
The free passes assisted the Guns as they had 7 hits but scored 7 runs. 
The game was decided in the final three innings when the Ravens outscored 
the Guns 7 to 5 in a wild finish.

 Final 9 - 7 Ravens as they advance to the semi finals and face the #1 Wranglers in the best two of three. Good season Guns!!

The Durham Men's Fastball League had three games this week in their semi finals
action.

Tuesday September 10 Game 2 of series - Wranglers(1) @ Ravens(4)

In a tightly contested game the Ravens turned the table on the Wranglers 
when they outscored them 4 - 1. The Ravens capitalized on three errors by 
the Wranglers to score three of their runs.
Both teams had 5 hits. Best 2 of 3 series tied 1 - 1.

Tuesday 8:30, Sep 10  Game # 2 of series -  Bombers(2) vs Knights(3)

The Bombers that were up 1- 0 in the series when they gave up the first 
run in the top of the first to the Knights but after that it was all Bombers. 
Bombers scored 14 runs on 10 hits but Knights pitchers gave up 8 walks 
and 6 scored. Final Bombers 14 - Knights 1.

Thursday 8:30 Sep 12 Game #3 "If Game" - Ravens(4) vs Wranglers(1)

This game turned out to be a wild one and the game was definitely 
not over until the last out was made with the bases loaded for the Ravens. 
The Wranglers eventually prevailed as they out hit the Ravens 18 to 16 
and scored the last two runs to win 11 - 9. 
The Wranglers (1) advance to play the Bombers(2) on Tuesday night, time tba, 
in the best 2 of 3 DMFL for the Championship. Games are Tuesday and Thursday.

Game #2 Thursday 6:30  1st semi final Knights(3) vs Bombers(2)
The Knights had two runs on 3 hits in the first inning but Bomber's pitcher Chris Ramoutar only gave up 5 hits over the next six innings to lead his team to a 7 - 2 win. The Bombers scored 3 and 4 runs respectively in the 2nd and 4th innings to take the first win in the best of 3 series.

Game #3 Thursday 8:30 2nd semi final - Ravens(4) vs Wranglers(1)
The Wranglers jumped out in the first inning when they scored 3 runs and 
basically the game was over as the Ravens scored but 1 run off Wrangler's 
pitcher Matt Davis on his 4 hitter. Final was 7 - 1. Wranglers  
take a 1 - 0 lead in the best of three semi final.

Tuesday 17/09/24 

This was a very tight contest as the Bombers scored a 9 - 8  victory over the 
Wranglers. There were a lot of hits, Wranglers 16 and Bombers 11, 
12 strikeouts each team and many were clutch to shut down an inning. 
The Bombers had 4 extra base hits with two doubles and two home runs by 
Taylor O'Leary, whose shot reached the heavens and Greg Danko hit an inside 
the park home run. The Wranglers drove 3 doubles for extras.

Thursday, game 3's "If Necessary"


September 27th , 2024
Last night was the Final Game of the Durham Men's Fastball League Playoffs 2024
The Game featured the Oshawa Bombers(2) and Oshawa Wranglers(1) in the third game in theΒ best of three series.
All games plaued at Oshawa's Alexandra Park.
The score was tied at 0-0 until the bottom of the third inning when Austin Mullen(lf) drew a walk on a full count to lead off the inning. He was retired when the Bombers made a 6 - 4 out. Steve Visser(3b), the fielder's choice runner, scored on a double by leadoff batter Jay Best(cf) and he scored when Matt Dasilva(ss) hit an rbi double, 2 - 0 Wranglers. Bomber's pitcher Ryan Swift was relieved by Chris Ramoutar in the bottom of the 6th. With two out Wrangler's Will Macavelia(c) tripled and was sent home by Matt Davis'(p) single as they won the DMFL Playoff Championship, 3 - 0 Wranglers.
Davis was strong in the circle giving up only 4 hits while striking out 12.
The Bombers played a great defensive game but couldn't get their bats going. Jeff Drinkle(rf, 2b) was their top batter as he went 1/3, with a double. Chris Ramoutar(p), Kyle Wingrove(3b) and Nav Seelochand(lf) were 1/3.  Drinkle advanced to third base but was stranded there after a F7 and a K.
A very clean game that took 1.5 hours.
Final score again 3 - 0 Wranglers making them the 2024 DMFL champions.
